Weekend Hiking Trail: Ombota Wildernis Trail. ( 1,2 or 3 nights )

One night/2 day trail

You arrive early at Duesternbrook hike up to the Khomas Eck Basecamp, sleep one night at the basecamp and hike back the next day to the mainhouse.

Two night/2 day trail

You arrive at before 18.00 at Duesternbrook and sleep the first night at Duesternbrook Hikers Campsite. The next morning you hike up Khomas Eck Basecamp, a 4 to 5 hr hike. You sleep at the shelter of the basecamp and hike back the next day, on a different trail to the main house.

Two night/3 day trail

Like the first option you arrive early, hike up the the Khomas Eck basecamp and sleep there. The next day you up the Khomas Eck mountain top to enjoy the most spectacular 360 degrees view and hike, on a different trail, back, on a different trail, back to the basecamp and sleep there. The last day you hike back to the main house. This is actually the best of the three if you have the extra day. You will really enjoy it.

The shelter at Khomas Eck Basecamp has a shelter, a shower hot and cold water ( warm water donkie sytem), a wash basin, a water toilet, a zinc, a two braai area ( one stand-up and one camps fire type), a table and 4 chairs.

We offer the hiking in back pack or slack pack option. Slack pack = we supply you with food and matrasses. You can order cool drinks and we drive your gear up the the shelter ( extra fee per group). Everything else ( signposting etc. ) is in the same philosophy as the 4 or 6 day  KHHT.

Game most likely to see in the mountains: oryx, steenbok, kudu, mountain zebra, baboon, blue  wildebeest, klipspringer, dassies.

We think it is ideal for a short or long weekend as we are easy reachable, 45 minutes or 50 Km from Windhoek, so not many km to drive, iow a good relation of destination driving time and hiking time (time spent in the bush.)  On the hike you are for sure in the middle of pristine practically untouched nature. We think, today may be, more than anywhere else in Namibia.

You can also hire: a tent, sleeping bag extra matrasses.
